Bike The Trail

Yes, the Follett family completed the Bike The Trail once again.  All the bikes were loaded on the car, tyres pumped and we were ready to leave Harcourt Park bang on 12pm.  It was such a georgous day; especially for a bike ride.

The ride is 25km long from Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt right down the river to the Petone Foreshore.  Jack sped ahead and completed the ride in 1.5 hours, meeting some new people alolng the way.  William and Olivia then made their way and Todd, Deirdre and Daniel followed.

The was a bit of a disaster as Daniel cut in front of Deirdre who ended up crashing off her bike in an effort to save Daniel from disaster and ended up with 'gravel burn' and chucks out of her knee and elbow.  Never mind ... keep on riding to Stokes Valley.  Pit stop at the ambulance for a clean up, then it was decided that Deirdre would take the easy ride in the ambluance to the finish line.  Perhaps the first person every to cross the finish line with paramedics on either side of her.  Not that the injury was that bad, we just ended up walking through the finish line together.

At the end there was free sausages, a band playing and give aways by the organisers.  We didn't win anything this year, but did get to hang out with the Gray and Wray families.

Looking forward to next years ride ... 2013 here we come.
